Thrift Store Punishment

The thrift store clothes punishment was great. It was not too far at all, it was probably hard for the mom to make her daughter do something like that anyways. But all bullies deserve something like this. If my kid was a bully I'd do the same thing.

Social Networking Privacy

Nothing in this article really surprised me.  If you want to have a phone, Facebook, Twitter, etc., you just have to understand the risks you take by posting or sending anything.  I think kids should know everything on this website just from common sense.

Nichole Cable

I never understood why people kidnap kids.  Whatever the reason may be, it's messed up and the person who did this to Nichole Cable deserves the worst punishment possible.  I feel so bad for the kids who went to school with her because that would be so hard to deal with, even with the counseling they have set up.

Choice book 3rd quarter

I will be reading Friday Night Lights by H.G. Bissinger. I chose to read this book because I've always been fascinated by how seriously Texas thinks about football and I love playing football so I thought it would be entertaining.

Hyenas

The first thing that stood out to me was when he killed the hyena.  It probably stood out to me because he killed it in a cool way, I thought hitting the hyena in the kidney would just make it angry not kill it, It stuck out to me because I learned something too.

The next thing that stood out to me was when she said that her dad was 10 or 11 feet tall.  I'm sure he wasn't actually that tall but it was just funny to me so it stood out the most.  If this kid saw Ms. Bennet then he would probably say she was 15 feet tall.

The last thing that stuck out was the people killing everyone.  I don't understand how some people can be so heartless and just kill random people without a good reason.  That was shocking so that is why it stood out.

Socheat's essay [questions]

1.)  Socheat thinks that Cambodia is a poor country that doesn't care about the people.  She says that the police let the rich people get away with anything because they pay the police to do so.  She also says that some students don't even go to class and the teachers don't care.

2.)  a.  Was it hard to leave your friends? (I asked this because for me I would have a difficult time.)
b.  Who did you live with when your parents were in America? (I asked this because I'm just curious.)

3.)  They are similar because they are both from the same country, also they ran away from the bad situations to come to America.  They are different because Socheat doesn't say she had any restrictions in America like Sundara, also Socheat wants to go back home and Sundara does not.

1.)  They are arguing about Sundara lying to Soka and seeing Jonathan, Soka thinks Sundara is a bad girl and Naro says that she's doing fine and it's not her fault because Soka is too strict.
"No, I don't see that. I see a girl who's doing her best and having a hard time just like the rest of     us. You're not the only one who was uprooted, you know!"

2.)  Sundara see's a doll on the ground and takes it as a bad omen. It reminds her of when Soka's baby died and she thinks it's her fault.
"No, no . . ." Sundara knew a doll from a baby, and she knew an omen when she saw one too. she sank into the mud.

3.)  The grandmother says that the spirit of Soka's baby had taken over Sundara.  It gives us the insight that the grandmother was very wise and may have even seen something like this before. Soka realized that maybe she really had been too hard on Sundara and she feels bad about it.
